OMG I'm starting a thread here :OSo assuming the 3 of you who check here semi-annually are still interested in AC in the least, have any of you guys had a chance to try these games out? I realize the chances of that are probably slim-to-none :P
I got a hold of the games just over a week ago; I finished up AC3p with all S-Rank and 114% complete not quite a week ago. Had a blast...a tasty, nostalgic-filled blast! I thought that since it was a PS2-port, it might have it's graphics toned down or the game would run choppy. But I was surprised to find that it was neither (although they may have tweaked the of the graphic fidelity here and there...but it's not very noticeable). The game is silky-smooth and runs just like the PS2 version. And the selling point for me was...new parts! There are parts from AC1-MOA and AC2-AA, which is all kinds of sweet. I think there are somewhere around 10-12 new parts per game (give or take). Your able to transfer you save files from each game, so those new parts will coalesce into a pretty good chunk of new stuff to play with by the time you reach Last Raven Portable.
The main thing that has been a detractor thus far are the controls. And as I'm sure you all know, controls will make or break a game
. Unfortunately they just didn't put enough damn buttons on the PSP. Maneuvering is pretty easy; looking up and down isn't too bad on the default controls but it's not very efficient; using left arm weapons is the worst part. In AC3 it wasn't so bad since your limited to parts that don't require constant button-mashing (blades, howies, shields). But I'm well aware of the thumb-ache I'm going to suffer through once I start putting together dual-wield designs :X.
Aside from the control madness though, I'm pretty happy with the ports so far. I just started on Silent Line a couple of days ago but I haven't had a chance to really delve completely into it. Hopefully it will hold up as good as AC3p did.
If you guys have the game and you don't want to be a complete sucker and download a save file, I put together a hidden parts guide that took me a few days. I posted it around some other AC sites so that's what sorta prompted me to start this thread here. At any rate, you can find the guide below:
Armored Core Portable Hidden Parts Guide
The guide covers all three games for convenience sake. There's still a little bit of work I need to do to it, but it should serve it's purpose well enough for the time being.
Anyways...heh...I wonder how long it will take before someone notices this thread <.<....>.>....or if it'll even get replied too :P
