I long while back I asked Pat Reynolds if he would care if I posted one of his old Zipper designs. He told me there was no problems with that. To make a long story short I was lazy and did not post it for a couple years. So a couple years later I figure it is better late than never. This is from Tips and Tricks No 78 August 2001. I will leave the version of AC this is from unposted just to see if anyone will recognise it.

Zipper V is the latest, although not the greatest, in my long-running quest to design the perfect Core. I like lightweight Cores, but I never seem to be willing to take the risks associated with building a really light design (like Victor's Reaveant). With Zipper V, my tournament model, I made the mistake of falling back on the Karasawa as my main weapon. It had served me well in the past, but as I learned, it is not without its flaws. Mainly, the two players using light Cores (Dayne and Victor) were able to easily dodge my Karasawa shots. The Missile Launcher is a decent backup weapon, but it doesn't deliver the kind of damage I wanted (I had intended to use a Large Missile for this design, but forgot to change it before the tournament...oops). Zipper can put up a good fight against heavy Cores, and I like most of the internal parts I've used. If I were to make changes, I'd probably take the WG-500/E Machine Gun, plant a Large Missile on the back, swap out the arms for a slightly heavier unit and see if I could pile all of it on lighter legs. Well, there's always Zipper VI...
