For those of you who have any issues of T&T with Hard Core featured in it, I thought it might be pretty cool if you posted up for top 3 favorite designs. You don't have to post the part layout or anything, but give the name, issue number and a short description about why you like it. I guess this might be a futile attempt at a thread since I really have no idea how many of you still have these old issues (and out of those people, how many of you still check around these dusty ole archives...I mean forums). If you don't have access to any of the backissues but you can remember a design that you liked, just post it up. If you only like 1, just post it up. No need to be super strict about this, just have fun and discuss and reminisce! But whatever, it doesn't really matter since I don't hold too much promise out for people posting a lot anyways. Regardless, I think it would be nice if would could sorta consider this a tribute to Hard Core and to Pat

You can choose from any design from any issue of Hard Core...all the way from the first issue to the last issue (which, from what I can tell, is issue #102).

--------------

3. Revenant X - Issue #93 - The design itself is pretty standard and almost cliche to an extent; but the fact that it helped me out a lot in the arena really really gave me an nostalgic attachment to it. It's a very beasty HW bristling with all kinds of scary firepower and lots of armor (again, pretty cliche HW if you ask me). The real clincher of the design for me where the vertical rockets, which I absolutely loved in previous AC games and just as much here. The heavy GRP EO also had an allure to it at the time, even though it had **** aim most of the time. The internals were a little unbalanced as well (or, should I say, 'not the standard ROZ/FLEET/SA44 :P ). But I've just got an attachment to this thing that I've kept all this time.

2. Barakade - Issue #101 - Go supa GOMAP go! I never thought that an almost purely defensive-minded core would function very efficiently in the arena until I built this thing the first time. Pat seemed to really enjoy thing design a lot as well, and I can't blame him. It's your basic SHUT GOMAP which makes use of the AEGIS extension sheilds and the MIRROR LA sheild. To provide fire there's a MG/1000 (which basically ensures that you'll never run out of ammo in itself) and two GNS. The maniacal side of my really appreciates the dual GNS setup, but for flexibility reasons I think I probably would have went with a slightly different cannon setup. Weight may have been an issue, but I probably would have dropped one of the GNS's and swapped the other one out for a GNL. Then to replace that dropped GNS, some other sort of cannon type (possibly something with a little more flexiblity...not really sure what would fit this spot since my memory of the AC3 cannons fails me, but if this were translated to SL, a linear cannon would work nicely). However, the design for the time was genius and I really enjoyed learning from it.

1. Doom Comet - Issue #102 - I believe this thing is just pure genius of design. I back up that opinion by the fact that it placed 1st in the tournament feature in issue #102, and it was a non-OP-I tanker! The article says something about piloting skill being more important than design...but I believe in this case the design was just very efficient and well thought-out. The basic premise of the design, from what I can gather, is to be able to use the GNL+Howie on a very fast tanker design. There's a HG-80 to provide heat and support fire and the design makes use of the extension energy packs and deeks to further extend its usefulness. It's just overall a very wicked setup that really speaks to my style of design and play. Also has a hawt paintjob <3
