Royal Bumble

What was THQ thinking when they released Royal Rumble?  This game has to be one of the biggest disappointments in the wrestling genre ever.  Other games have sucked in the past, but none of those were as highly anticipated as Royal Rumble.

When Brad came back from E3 this year he brought a video tape with some footage of several games.  When I saw the footage of Royal Rumble I thought oh no another crappy Ack-Lame game.  I was surprised to learn that the same company that did Wrestlemania 2000 for N64 was responsible for this sad looking demo.  So I decided to wait and see if they would improve the game any by the time that was released.  Well it certainly doesn't appear to have improved any.

This game is bad on the level of Superman 64.  Only 20 wrestlers?!  No create a wrestler?!  At this point quality control should have said no way are we putting this out.  Not only that but this game is so stiff and choppy I am embarrassed to say it is for the Dreamcast.  They added stupid flashes when you punch an opponent and with all the interfering they may as well be tag matches.  On that subject why didn't they add tag matches?!  One REALLY stupid part of the game is that every so often you will magically appear in a different place.  What's that crap about?!

There is one neat thing however.  When they do a special move I like the blur effect, however it's only neat to see about once.

Oh yea you can also have up 9 wrestlers in the ring at the same time. (Would be really impressive if you could have a multi tap and actually have that many players.) I think they should have put less time in to making the game have 9 wrestlers and put more time in to making the game more enjoyable with..... well hell you name it.

If anything from above list was added or changed about this game it may not have been so bad, but as it is Vince McMahon should buy THQ and fire anyone who had anything to do with this atrocity.  And that's the FINAL WORD
