Guilty Gear X Tournament Wrap Up

For a game that isn't out yet in America we had a good enough turn out to go ahead and have a tournament.  We all agreed to wave off the entry fee and put it towards pizza and play for bragging rights.   Matt Keast (who writes for the site on occasion)  brought the game and the Dreamcast to play it on.  Since both Matt and Carl own this game we thought that they would be the run away favorites to win.  Mike who got second in the Capcom Vs. SNK tournament was a threat as well.  Jake and myself entered for fun.   Carl and Matt Addison tied for third in the Capcom Vs. SNK.  The edge went to Carl as he won the match between the two of them.   Russ was a wild card and I wasn't sure where he would factor.

As the tournament began.  Matt A started out by upsetting Matt K.  Carl gained a win against another entry named Kevin.  (it should be noted that Kevin and another guy named Derik originally entered but had to leave early)  This was an important event for at least one person.  Mike has suffered early round losses to both of them.  After they won against Mike they both has to leave.  This kept Mike's slate clean.  This also took a win from Carl who had won against Kevin.  

I started out great, with a win over Jake and then a win over Russ.  I was 2 and 0.  These however would be my only victories of the night.  Mike continued his loosing streak by loosing to Jake.    Carl and Matt A continued to rack up wins quietly.  

By now Mike had worked his way back in to contention and it was now anyone's game.  (Cept Jake and I)  Carl had dealt Matt A his first loss, and if Mike or Russ could get a win over Matt A then there would be a tie for first.  This would not come to pass however as Matt A would not loose another bout.  

This would put Matt A with a 5 and 1 Record.  My records to not show clearly who won between Jake and Matt K.  I was under the impression that Jake had upset him, but I have been told differently.  Assuming Matt K beat Jake then Matt K would secure 2nd with 4 wins.  As you can see every one was about the same.  

In any event Matt Addison was the winner of the Guilty Gear X tournament.   Congrats.
