Tekken 4 Tournament Wrap Up

The format for this tournament was as follows;  2 pools of players play everyone else in there pool.  The best two winning records automatically advances to the finals.  The third and fourth best records go to a wild card pool.  The worst records would advance to the Last chance pool.  In the last chance pool only one would advance to the wild card pool.  In the wild card pool the top two would advance to the finals.   The winner would be determined by another round robin in the final pool.  Here are the results;

Pool 1

This pool was almost as straight forward as they come.  There were some great matches including Phil Vs. Patrick and Phil Vs. Brian.   Adam however gained a bit of bragging rights as he was the only one to give Phil a loss.   Despite this loss Phil and Brian would still both advance to the finals.  Patrick and Myles would go to the Wild Card pool.  Adam earned a spot in the last chance, and Bobby.....well......thanks for coming Bobby.

Pool 2

In this pool Andrew and Dayne advanced to the finals.  Jake advanced to the Wild Card.  There was a tie between Kalvin and Jazmon for the last spot in the Wild Card, but since Jazmon held the win between the two of them she advanced to the finals.  Kalvin would go to the last chance pool.  Since David and Taiyon each had a win they advanced to the last chance pool as well.

Wildcard Pool

This was a nightmare!  Jake clearly advanced with a 3/1 record however one more person was suppose to advance.  Jasmon blames her loss to Myles to sympathy for the young kid.  Myles took full advantage of that sympathy and before she could recover Myles had won.  With this loss there was not a three way tie for second. in the tie breaker Jasmon beat Kalvin, Kalvin beat Patrick, and Patrick beat Jasmon.  Once again another three way tie.  This time I decided that I would just advance all three of them.

Final Pool

Phil walked away and the undefeated Champion (unless you count Adam in the first round.)  Andrew and Brian tied for second. They later had a tie breaker that determined the prize money.  Andrew won that match.  Then we had a Deja Vu of the Wild Card pool  Dayne, Jasmon and Jake all had a 3/4 record tying for 4th place.  In a tie breaker Dayne beat them both.  After his winning streak in the last chance pool and good performance in the Wild Card pool, the force just wasn't with Kalvin in the finals.

Thanks to all who came out, and congratulations to Phil on a great performance in the finals.  I was glad to see a lot of good competition participate.  I hope that everyone will come to the next Tekken 4 tournament.  (See schedule for details.)
