 Combat (Atari 2600) Tournament Wrap Up

 

That's right you didn't read it wrong.  We actually had a tournament for Combat on the Atari 2600!!  I actually was a little disapointed that some people didn't make it out, but I blame my self for not reminding people when it was.  A few people I talked to were sorry they missed it but forgot that we were doing it.  Oh well.  Despite that we actually got 6 people other than myself to make it 7 total.   Even though the store would take a loss for running it we went on with it anyway.  For this tournament each player picked a map then for the third battle it would go to the default map of tanks with no obstacles.  For this I am going to list the scores.

Slugfest Award: Jeff Vs Adam 19/17  

Most Points Scored in a Single Game by one Player Award:  Shawn scored 27 points against Adam

Largest Win Margin Award:  Shawn Vs. Adam 27/1

Offence Award:  Shawn 14.41 pts/g

Defense Award:  Shawn allowed only 6.53 points scored against him per game

The Dead in the Middle Award:  Adam  not only did he finish 3/3/0 in his matches his game record was only off by one and even his points were only off by one.

Guts Award: Bobby.  His last match was against Jeff.  He lost the first round and tied the second round then in the third round they were tied at 12 each.  If the time ran out Jeff would have won the match.  Bobby had to score to get the game win so the match would end in a draw.  As the last seconds ticked away Bobby charged in with his tank.  Unfortunately he ran in to Jeff's shot as time ran out and Jeff won 13/12.

Despite all my (Shawn) awards, Jeff won were it counted. (The match record)  Even though we ended up with 5 wins each, he had one match end in a tie but my other match was a loss to him.  So congrats to Jeff and thanks for coming out.   

(Prize money won by myself was passed along to the next place.  In this case the $10 second place was passed to third place Chris.)
