Vampire Savior Tournament Wrap Up

The format for this tournament was as follows;  3 pools of players play everyone else in there pool.  The best winning record automatically advances to the finals.  The second best record goes to a wild card pool.  The third best would advance to the Last chance pool.  In the last chance pool only one would advance to the wild card pool.  In the wild card pool the top two would advance to the finals.   The winner would be determined by another round robin in the final pool.  Here are the results;

Pool 2

In this pool there was a three way tie.  In situations like this all three go to the Wild Card pool.  Instead of taking two from the Wild Card pool like normal, when a situation like this occurs an extra spot is available in the finals so four would advance instead.

Last Chance

Normally one person would advance from this pool to go on to the Wild card pool.   However five people were already in the Wild Card pool.  Due to a three way tie I figured they these people were pretty evenly matched.  And since they were the third best in each of their pods, I concluded that anyone who advanced from this pod would logically not be much of an impact on the finals.  This may sound harsh and I know that anything can happen, but in the end I decided not to advance  anyone from this pool and instead advance everyone from the Wild card making for a 7 man finals.

Final Pool

Up to this point in the pentathlon two people have always made it in to the finals,  Bryce and Jake.   Even though Jake made it to the finals he didn't walk away with any points.  So currently only Bryce has earned points in every game in the Pentathlon. Despite this accomplishment,  Matt C pulled within 4 points of Bryce's lead.  As for my Last Chance Pool decision, it turned out that I was probably correct in my assumption.  In the prelims Heath and Tony both lost to Jake, and Jess lost to Alli.  Since Jake and Alli finished 6th and 7th I feel confident in my decision.
