Project Justice Tournament Wrap Up

Capcom Pentathlon Game 2

The format for this tournament was as follows;  2 pools of players play everyone else in there pool.  The best 2 winning records automatically advances to the finals.  The third and forth best record went to the wild card pool.  All others would advance to the Last chance pool.  In the last chance pool only one would advance to the wild card pool.  In the wild card pool the top two would advance to the finals.   The winner would be determined by another round robin in the final pool.  Here are the results;

Pool 1

Several matches came right down to the last hit.  Heath's loss to Matt C was one of them.  Dan edged out Matt in the first round as well.  This would be the difference as to who advanced to the wild card and who would have to battle in the last chance pool.  Even though they had the same win loss record.  Dan won the match between the two of them and therefore he would be the one to go to the wild card spot.  Matt's win over Heath prevented what would have been a three way tie for first.  As it was Chris and Bryce would advance to the finals.

Pool 2

This pool was more strait forward then the first.   Jake and Alli had the Sun Glasses Vs. Hat match.  Jake was wearing his trademarked sunglasses, and Alli was wearing a hat.  After Jake lost the first round to Alli Jake knocked off Alli's hat.  Alli was quick to avenge himself though as he perfectly won the next round.  This reminded me of the last tournament in a way when Jake took off the sun glasses after loosing and Alli put them on and then in the third round no one wore them but Jake lost to another perfect performance by Alli.

Despite this pod being strait forward there were some close matches as well.  Jake and Adam came down to the last round.  Scott and Taiyon was very close in the first round of their match as well.

Last Chance

Matt C had a close bout with David that was settled in the 3rd round.  Then in the battle for pride David beat out Adam for his only win.  Thanks again to Adam and David for participating.

Wildcard Pool

For this I didn't have Heath and Jake battle it out.  After they both gained three wins it was no longer necessary, since they both would be advancing anyway.

Despite beating Heath in the prelims, Matt C lost in their rematch in another great match that came down to the 3rd round.  Matt however would beat Dan in their rematch after losing to Dan in the prelims.  Unfortunately this victory would not help advance Matt to the finals.

Final Pool

Four out of the six finalists from last week were back in the final pool again battling it out for not only this tournament but for the points for the overall pentathlon standings.  Alli and Bryce were tied with 8 points going in to this tournament so they had the upper hand.   Heath and Scott were both participating for the first time in the pentathlon.  Chris came in to the finals with the least amount of points from the last game and really needed to do well to put him back in the hunt.

Jake was able to beat Scott who had previously beat him in the prelims.  After beating Bryce in the prelims, Heath was not so fortunate in the finals as Bryce was able to pick up the win.  Bryce suffered a loss to Jake in what was a very close match.  If this loss had not occurred we would have had another 3 way tie for first and Jake would have been bumped down to 5th instead of being tied for 4th.  As it was however the last match came down to Alli and Chris.  Chris would get the win and get the tie for first.  This put Bryce at third place.  Had Alli won that would givin him first place all to himself and tie for second between Bryce and Chris would have occurred.  All in all it was an exciting finals.  Alli beat Chris in the tiebreaker for the prize money, but the points would remain unaffected and split at 9 each.

With this split victory between Alli and Chris, Alli would now move in to the overall lead for the pentathlon.  Bryce only down by three points and Chris in right behind Bryce by only four points.  Matt and Jake are right behind them as well.
