Street Fighter Alpha 3 Tournament Wrap Up

Capcom Pentathlon Game 1

The format for this tournament was as follows;  2 pools of players play everyone else in there pool.  The best 2 winning records automatically advances to the finals.  The third and forth best record went to the wild card pool.  All others would advance to the Last chance pool.  In the last chance pool only one would advance to the wild card pool.  In the wild card pool the top two would advance to the finals.   The winner would be determined by another round robin in the final pool.  Here are the results;

Last Chance 

This was probably the smallest last chance pool ever. Taiyon managed to escape the last chance pool.

Wildcard Pool 

After Dayne and Matt C gained 4 and 3 wins it wasn't necessary to continue the pool since it wasn't possible for any one else to get 3 wins.  Dayne and Matt C moved on to the finals where the would get another chance at each other and the players who beat them in the prelims.  

Final Pool 

Battle of the Sunglasses Jake Vs. Alli

This was a rather funny match up.  Jake was wearing his sunglasses during the first round.  When Alli beat him Jake took them off.  When he put them down in front of them Alli picked them up and put them on for the next round.  Alli lost that round and quickly took off the sunglasses.  For the next round neither player put on the glasses.  Alli would take the next round with a perfect win.

For Bryce, Alli would once again be the thorn in his side.  Even though this was a different game, in the January CvS2 tournament Alli cost Bryce a tie for first after Bryce beat Alli in the prelims.  Then in the February CvS2 tournament Alli was Bryce's only loss.  History would repeat it's self once again as Bryce would beat Alli in the prelims, but loose in the finals only to Alli.  This would force a three way tie for first as Matt C would be Alli's only loss.   They battled it out in a tie breaker for the prize money but the points for the pentathlon would be unaffected by the tie breaker.  During the tie breaker Bryce would beat both Alli and Matt C.  Then Alli would go on to beat out Matt for the ever elusive $10 gift certificate for second.
