Street Fighter Alpha 3 Tournament Wrap Up

Capcom Pentathlon Game 2

The format for this tournament was as follows;  5 pools of players play everyone else in there pool.  The best winning record automatically advances to the finals.  The second best record goes to a wild card pool.  In the wild card pool the top three advance to the finals.   The winner would be determined by another round robin in the final pool.  Here are the results;

Pool 1

In this pool  Bryce and Raul had the same # of wins.  Since Bryce beet Raul in their match Bryce advanced to the finals, and Raul would go to the wild card pool.  The N/As represent matches that were not necessary since it was impossible for them to get 3 wins.

Pool 3

In the case of Marc and Russ there was a tie breaker to determine who would make it to the wild card pool.  Marc would once again beat Russ to go on.

Pool 4

In this pool Dan ran away with the win to the finals.  Heath would gain his only victory over Debokin and this would prove to play the role of the spoiler for him as he had a tie breaker with Matt C.  While Matt lost his regular match to Debokin he would redeem himself and gain the win in a tie breaker to go on to the wild card pool.

Pool 5

This pool was pretty strait forward.  Thomas who was by far our youngest participant made a really good showing and made it to the wild card pool as Arlow ran away with the rest of the pool.

Wildcard Pool

In the wild card pool gaining two wins would prove to be enough.  In a noteworthy match Thomas and Matt C had the only double K.O. of the night.

Final Pool

This was a very good final pool.  Despite the fact that Trigon didn't suffer a loss it was a lot closer than it looks.  Matt C. had a very close match against him.  In the first round he trashed him and almost had a perfect. In the third round it came down to who was going to hit who first.

With his victory here Trigon is now the current leader in the pentathlon standings.

Thanks to all who came.  This was by far the best tournament yet.
