Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 Tournament Wrap Up

Capcom Pentathlon Game 1

The format for this tournament was as follows;  4 pools of players would play everyone else in there pool and then the two with the best winning records would advance to the next pool.  It would be there that the winner would be determined by another round robin in the final pool.  Here are the results;

Pool 1

When it becomes mathematically imposable for any others to win a pool that pool will be closed and the winners would advance.  And a N/A will be put in the remaining matches.  Bryce left after his first two matches there would be a green N/A indicating a win by forfeit.

Pool 3

This pool was very interesting.  This one had the participant who I give the edge to win the sportsmanship award (Pat) and on the opposite side of the spectrum it had the guy who I would nominate for the "biggest ham" award.  (Trigon).  (No offence Trigon)   This pool also had someone who drove 4 hours from Indianapolis Indiana!! Jimmy told us that there wasn't really any tournaments down there so that's why he came.  It is worth noting that it was a close bout between Jimmy and Trigon for that last bout of the pool.  Had Trigon lost it would have forced a three way tie breaker.  It is also worth noting that Pat was very close to dealing a loss to Raul.  They were both down to there last characters and each only had an inch of life left when the time ran out and Raul won.  I think this was a strong pod.

Pool 4

This pool or pod, had the only tie breaker of the night between Debokin and Greg.  Debokin would take it however to make it to the finals.

Final Pool

The finals didn't kick off until Midnight. Fortunately this would only interfere with one person.  Unfortunately it would be the only person not from Saginaw. (Arlow)  I say unfortunately because I would have liked to have seen someone else in the mix.  I also would have liked to have seen Jimmy from Indiana make it to the finals as well.  Oh well no use complaining about it now.

Raul won with only one loss. (A final bout with Tojo would make the difference) Giving him the first place prize and the leader of the Pentathlon with 10 points.  There was a three way tie for second.  Tojo, Trigon and Drac each had two losses.  For pentathlon purposes the points are evenly divided among them.  This would be 6 each instead of 8, 6, and 4.  Then Zeiram got 4th (since the tie eliminates 3rd and 4th places)  so Zeiram got 2 points.  Everyone else (including people who didn't make it to the finals) got 1 point for participating.
