Vampire Savior Tournament Wrap Up

On Friday April 20, 2001 Game Hits would hold one of the most exiting Tournaments to date.  This would be held at Pat's weekend Lan party.  Eight people would battle it out for the bragging rights for Vampire Savior for the Sega Saturn.  

This was an exiting tournament because it was a very close race to the end.  This was a round robin tournament so every one would have a chance against everyone else.  This would mean 56 matches normally, but there were 57 matches.  This was not due to a tie breaker at the end like you may expect, but this was due to Pat and Adrian having the first ever double KO in a tournament.

So with out a tie breaker how could this be close?  Well after 44 matches (79% of the tournament) there was still a four way tie for first place!  Jess, Andre, Tim, and Chris all had only one loss.  Then Tim and Chris had their bout, and Tim won taking Chris out of the running.  This would still leave a 3 way tie for first that would last until the very last round of action.  This would put Tim with a 5/1 record against Matt with a 1/5 record.  It would also put Pat with a 3/3 record against Andre with his 5/1 record.   If  Tim or Andre won there matches it would have been a 3 way tie.  Well Matt would prove to be the spoiler for Tim as he upset him in a very close match.  Jess had secured his 6/1 record so it all came down to whether or not Andre could take out Pat.  Andre was the only one to get a victory against Jess in one of the longest matches of the night, so a tie breaker would have very exciting.  Pat however would have different plans as he derailed Andre's efforts to make it to the tie breaker by beating him to take his record to a 4/3 and send Andre's record to 5/2.
