Final Fantasy Spirits Within

Remember that one movie about the aliens/ ghosts/ evil minions that place a serious risk to the existence of mankind? You know the one with the funny guy that is either annoying or endearing, and the square jawed hero type that dies at the end? Remember, it had that black guy that held his ground and went out in a blaze o' glory, and the bad guy that had the incredibly single minded urge to blow something up? Cant quite place it? that's because you have probably seen 20 or so this year alone. Final Fantasy the Spirits Within is one of 'em. It borrows from quite a few other movies in the genera heavily. Steve Bushemi's character IS the crazy guy in Armageddon, and the captain (cant remember his name) looks exactly like Ben Afflec in said movie. And he dies in the end just like Bruce Willis. The black guy (cant remember his name either) might as well be Mr. T. I think square tried to pack 80 hours of game into an hour and a half of movie. It didn't work.

If your a FF fan though, you WILL like this movie. It has trademark FF stuff like the race against the clock in the beginning, and the high speed chase that you see in the FMV of the PS games. Not to mention a very life stream looking "Gia". Oh and Cid is in it to. The bad guy is your basic Siefer/Squall/Cloud bad ass type. And Rinoa.. I mean Tifa...Er Aka...you get the idea.

The CG was astounding. As Ackbar has stated, the Pixar people are working 25 hours a day to catch up. All the characters are very life like and the scenery looks photo realistic. I'm not kidding PHOTO REALISTIC. You can't tell there not real. Its that good.

Most definitely worth the 5 bucks to see it on the big screen.7 out of 10.
