Ten Dollar Games, Great Deal Or Cheap Rip-Off?

 By: Jake

Oh where oh where have the high prices gone? As we go into the holiday season a new price trend has been in effect. Ever since the ever popular Spec Opps: Stealth Patrol came out with a shinny $10 price tag some other titles have also turned that way. With many followers quickly going from $20-$10 whats the deal here? Is this price really worth it? Are we saving a fortune of our cold hard earned cash to buy what looks to be a great looking PS title? Or are we getting screwed yet again?

With the introduction of Spec Opps: Stealth Patrol out in the public for the first time, everyone jumped up and said "WOW!" its only $10! With the penny pinchers up at the counter with the copy of Spec Opps in their hand, it was a buy come true.....not likely. Known for its cheap 3-D graphics, horrible controlling, and strange game-play. Spec Opps: Stealth Patrol got some of the worst ratings that I have ever seen this side since Sammy Sosa Softball Slam! Well, despite every effort made to prevent the public from being in the same room with this title, they all failed.

Now Spec Opps is back at it making another title (hopefully a better one) for the DC but that's another story. A few weeks later the newest breed of Games was upon us! With Take2 (The makers of the $10 games) and their ever long line of terrible games..hey why not beat out the greatest hit collection and bring in first generation titles slap a $10 price tag on the case and call it new. Well they did this! Taking titles such as Action Bass and Pro-Pinball into their grasp making them known to the public and promoting them as great games the public bought it. Well there was just a small microscopic problem with these titles.......They absolutely suck! These titles have some of the worst ratings known to man! The sad part is that even though I spent my nightly hours writing this little tiny bit of information about $10 games, your still gonna go out and buy the damn titles! These titles are not even worth a rent! let alone a buy. Its all a marketing scam I tell you a government conspiracy gone wrong! Stay away from these titles! It could be the smartest thing you could ever do.

Of course some of these titles can almost touch the edge of the word decent, don't get me wrong on that. Some of these games might be for you, some might not. For the people who like their games good and without many mess ups, stick to the greatest hits titles for cheapness. Or save your $10 add a few extra dollars to it and go out and buy a decent title like the upcoming FFIX. Hell its your choice... don't make the wrong one, you could resent it for the rest or your gaming life.

Down below is a list of the $10 titles by Take2 for the PlayStation...

-Spec Opps: Stealth Patrol: The first of a new breed, this 3-D run and shoot them up title resembles alittle bit of Metal Gear Solid and Perfect Dark. Might be a game to yell and throw the controller at..am I right? (Note: We will not be responsible for any broken material caused by Spec Opps: Stealth Patrol.)

-Action Bass: Ever want to go out and catch a fish? then stop reading this damn article and go fishing because Action Bass isn't going to give you that fishy experience. Sure you have a poll, the X button, and a good view of fish but after a hour, thats about enough.

-Spin Jam: Heres my advice, when you see this title in the store skip it and look more towards Bust-A-Move because thats all this is and nothing more...Got that Groove?

-Ball Breakers: With simple controls and simple graphics, this title is for you if you enjoy cyborg warriors that have no legs but have a hovering body over a ball and a constant case of repeating levels...this one is truly worth $10.

-Martian Gothic: A $10 survivor horror game? Hey maybe its worth a cheap scare, all I know its another rip-off from Resident Evil. Do you still want it?

-Pro-Pinball: Fantastic Journey: Well if you want normal pinball well, this is normal pinball...nothing more. Hey at least the flippers, bumpers, and launchers sound great, not to mention the graphics are not half bad but hey, we want more then just "normal" pinball.

-SpeedBall 2100: Hey this game isn't bad. Its a great idea of what sports and violence in the future would look like. However it has quite a few let downs as well, I suggest stay clear of this one unless you really think your up to the "warped" challenge.

-Grudge Warriors: Getting this game isn't all that bad. If your low on cash this game is just as good as getting anyother game. However this game goes after the Twisted Metal/V8 type of game play and fails to make it to ether one of these. The controls are basic and easy but for the price this is actually a deal.

-Pro-Pinball: Big Race USA: Refer to previous Pro-Pinball. That just about takes care of the somewhat long list of $10 games this Christmas. If you plain to purchase one of these titles take caution and save the receipt...you will thank me later. Till next time Gamers....
